HEAVILIN, NJ>MD>OH

Am looking for help connecting my Heavilin family to the larger Haviland family from NJ/NY. All I have to go on is the similarity of the name, and the place of origin. We have an old family story of our forefather, Stephen Heavilin, leaving NJ for MD with three sons, John, Samuel and Stephen. We have no more info about John, but Samuel and Stephen m. Layport sisters in the mid 1790's in Allegany Co., MD, and later moving to Cadiz, Harrison Co., OH. Since the name is so close to Haviland, and Stephen is a very common Haviland name in NJ and NY, and because NJ is also our point of origin, we believe we are also connected to the Haviland family.
