Dear Bernie,
This is the third time I have tried to send this off to you. I wish I could know how to use this computer better: I don't know why pressing the back key should erase what I have written, but that's what happened. I am sincerely hoping that this will be of use to you because it seems as though it might. Below is an exact copy of something I pulled off the web last April, but I can't give you any more info than that. Hopefully the email addresses will be all that you need. So here goes again. Please help me God.

I'm looking for info on the Turner family of Magog Village, Quebec. It says in my family records that my g-g-g-grandfather went to Canada where his uncle lived. My g-g-grandfather was born in Magog Village on March 12, 1819. His name was Luther French Turner. He married Caroline Theodocia Coates at Eaton Corner, Quebec. Luther's father was Solomon Turner, his wife was Dorothy Beede. Both are believed to have died in Magog Village. Any info you can send me would be helpful. Ron Turner Sweetcooking58@aol.com
Mr. Turner,
The Turners in the Magog, Bolton area were numerous. Turnertown about halfway betweeen Magog and Ayer's Cliff, was named for the family. Sadly it is a place in name only. Even the Turnertown Cemetery has been destroyed my the fneighboring gravel pit. The History of Stansted County,
forest and Clearings, (Magog Town, Magog Village, and Magog, all one and the same, are in Stanstead County) lists the Turners that settled there and at the Lake Shore. Brothers Jesse and David and their cousins Daniel and Timothy were the early settlers.
A look at the indexes of the Protestant records for the Judicial District of St. Francis shows that other Turner family groups were to be found throughout the Eastern Townships.
Solomon and Dorothy are listed as the parents of Alfred at his marriage to Betsey Butler, Nov. 15, 1842, in Eaton. The way the entry reads, Solomon and Dorothy were from Eaton.
One Luther French Turner signs as a witness to the burial of the infant David Turner Nov. 1, 1816 in Eaton. The parents of the baby were Solomon and Dolly. The same Dolly dies Feb. 25, 1870 in Dudswell and the act mentions that she was formerly of Eaton. It appears that Solomon was still living at her death.
If the record indexes are correct, the Luther French Turner who signed his name in 1819 at the death of David Turner was much older than your Luther French Turner.
Listed amongst the associates of Josiah Sawyer the grantee of Eaton is Luther French. I have looked in the History of Eaton and in the History of Compton County for a connection to your family but failed to find one. There may be one. Neither book has an all-name index unfortunately. Perhaps a letter to the Compton County Historical Society would be a help. Compton County Historical Museum Society, PO Box 517>br>Cookshire, QC J0B 1M0, or try The Eastern Townships Research Centre, Archives Department, Bishop's University, Lennoxville, Quebec J1M 1Z7; (819)822-9600 ext. 2261; http://www.ubishops.ca/etrc-crce/
I also have a note that the following email address is one for a person interested in the Turner family of Magog, c.1818: bcparr@digitex.net
I'll sign off fast because I don't want to mess this up again. Please write if there is anything I can do for you in southwestern New Hampshire. My interest is not professional, but I'm glad to do what I can. If you can suggest someone who could help me with my request, I would be thankful. I'll try the addresses above, too.
God is love. In Jesus' name, Russ
