This period you mention is a bit earlier than the 1830s, in which I am interested. Anything is possible in genealogy, as you know.
Sarah's will stated that her sons were Jeremiah and Joseph Yates but doesn't go beyond that to mention who their father was. I suppose any research in the Charleston, SC area, which she names as her residence, could find that.
