Dear Toni

I have a friend who is a descendant of Joseph Harpurs daughter Elizabeth Rotton
He had several children including Charles Harpur the first significant native born
Colonial poet, another son Joseph Jehosephat Harpur who served in the NSW parliament
and Elizabeth who was named after Elizabeth MacArthur the wife of John MacArthur the father
of the Australian wool industry. Joseph was at one time the overseer at Elizabeth Farm the
great colonial property owned by the MacArthurs. When he got his ticket of leave, he became the
first school master at Windsor in NSW.

There is a great deal about the Harpurs on the web and in the libraries here in Australia.
Just put Harpur into the search in the web and you will get several web-sites
for Charles Harpur his other son.
