There is a great deal of information on the Mathis family. Many in Georgia are descended from the two brothers (James and John) who came to Georgia from Duplin and Sampson Counties, NC, about 1800. There are Mathises who came from Deerfield County, SC, but I don't know about the connection with the NC Mathises. I do have a book of genealogy on these Mathises, however. I can trace my ancestry back several generation in the Mathis family. I might could help you if you have information about your grandfathers, great grandfathers, etc.
