THOMPSON-THOMSON-PAVIN

Looking for ANY info on Thompson- Thomson- Pavin(en)

Came to America before or about 1850. Were in Illinois 1852...

Heard or believe surname THOMPSON -- they had a run in with family and changed surname to mother's maiden name Pavin(en).... don't know if this happened before leaving Germany or when arriving in America

Would anyone have any info-- could use some help on this.
