I am looking for information about the origins of the family of my great-grandfather, Ferdiand Gaeng. Ferdinand Gaeng was born in Waldshut, Germany in 1853 to Adrian and Barbara (Landherr) Gaeng, who were married in Waldsht in 1850.
Adrian and Barbara (Landherr) Gaeng had seven children: Johann Baptist Gaeng, Anna Gaeng, Ferdinand Gaeng, Karl Gaeng, Friedrich Gaeng, Emil Gaeng and Julias Gaeng).
Barbara Landherr was born in Waldshut in 1817 to Xaveri and Maria Anna (Brunner)Landherr.
Ferdinand Gaeng emigrated from Noeggenschwiel, Germany in 1871 and eventually settled in Hastings, Minnesota, where he appears in the 1880 census. Ferdinand worked as a blacksmith in Hastings, where his name was shortened to Geng, and moved to Cutbank, Montana after he retired. He died in Cutbank in 1927.
