I came across your web page while I was looking for some information on the surname Toft. My Grandmother's maiden name was Julia Ann Toft and she came from Liverpool. She was born in 1883. Her mother's name was Joanna (McCormick)and her father was Benjamin. He worked on the ships in Liverpool and was killed in a fall on one of these ships. I think there were about six children in the family and they were orphaned at an early age. One of the sisters was Ethel and another brother was known as Canon Toft. She married my grandfather Urban Madden, an Australian soldier in 1917, and emmigrated to Australia. I would be most interested to find out if there is any connection with your family.
