Hello Paul,
With the same Name it's a bit like writing to myself!! Where are you from?
Before you go to Leitrim maybe you should do a bit of research through B,D&M Certificates to see if you can identify the Townland in Leitrim your Family came from. Their appears to be an awful lot of Shanleys in Leitrim the hard part is to find your family connection.
