POFI (Frosinone) 2004 Reunion

Raduno - Pofano - Reunion

GENEALOGY and ITALIAN ROOTS.
I am looking for people whose origins are from Pofi, in the province of Frosinone, or in case your ancestors came over during the early part of the last century, Pofi was then under the province of Rome.If you are from Pofi, or if you are a descendant families from Pofi who emigrated to this country in the 1900s or earlier, I would like to let you know that I am planning to organize a reunion by the summer of 2004 and I would like to invite you to take part.Maybe you have family still in Pofi with whom you are in contact, or, perhaps, you do have family, but there has been no contact for many years, either because the older generations have passed away and the younger ones have lost track of who you are and where you are. If this is the case, I would not worry because I am sure that your family in Pofi will be very happy to see you and will welcome you with open arms and warm hugs.I am not sure what you know about Pofi or if you have ever visited there, but I can assure you that you will like it. Many of my relatives who have had the chance to come to Pofi have loved it. Just imagine the emotion you would feel to see the place of your roots and the place where your ancestors were born and lived part of their lives. For those of you who have never been to Pofi, I know it will be a very unique opportunity to see this historic town and to find your roots. At any rate, Pofi is located not too far from Rome and not too far from Napoli, so it will be easy to visit these two big cities and surrounding areas, such as Pompei, Montecassino, Sorrento, etc., just to name a few. As part of this reunion, we will probably organize tours to these and other locations - but we can discuss all this and find a common agreement among all participants as to what places to put on the itinerary ( your suggestions will be highly appreciated in this regard). As for accommodations, there is a motel in Pofi and we have some Bed and Breakfast facilities, including my own, called Agripofi, which I recommend you view on the above mentioned website to see a photo of it. It is also a restaurant in the countryside, on the top of a hill, very characteristic Italian "ciociaro" countryside view, and there will probably be some rooms available. There are also other motels in the neighboring towns of Ripi, Frosinone, Ceccano and Ceprano, at very convenient prices. However, maybe the families to whom you are related, i.e. your cousins, might be delighted to offer you accommodation for a few days, but this issue can be discussed later. For the time being, I would like to know if you know of any family in Pofi and if they know of you.I am presently writing from Canada where I am living temporarily and if you send me your number I can call you to discuss the reunion and about roots, etc.. I know most of the families in Pofi and I have access to the church and town archives for genealogy research.I just hope that my dream comes true and that you would want to share this with me and see a crowded Piazza di Pofi with Pofani from around the world.
Pofi currently has a population of 4500 people; however, during the past century, about the same number of people have left Italy to come to this continent.
How many Pofani are there nowadays in the USA? And Canada? Let's find out by joining me at this reunion in Pofi, let's say in the summer of 2004!Your prompt reply is necessary to be able to plan ahead. Thank you.The address, phone numbers and emails shown above are where you can reach me.
In Pofi, my wife, Franca, is running the Agripofi Restaurant and you can talk to her if you want, OR just send your reply here at my AOL account (where I think I will stay for a few months longer).
I can be contacted directly in Toronto, probably until September 2003.
I look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Regards,Tony Pizzicaroli
