Hi Jacqueline --
Thanks for the response. Yes, my family was from Lercara Friddi. I've learned that this town is "so small" that most of the time a surname from that town (being it is so small), usually they are related.
I just got out of the hospital and won't be able to give you many answers until this weekend, but did want to get back to you.
I can send you names in my Sferlazza Ancestry this weekend. In the meantime if you have any names relating to your Sferlazza ancestry from Lercara, please send them to me and I can compare with what I have this weekend, and let you know more.
My grandfather came to America twice.
First time he came with some other relatives. Some were cousins, but didn't have the Sferlazza surname. This is how I got other surnames which are related to my Sferlazza side. My grandfather Worked here then went back to Italy. Came back here again in 1904 got another job and my grandmother came and joined him with their two babies in 1905.
They arrived in NY and lived first in NY, then in Brooklyn. Names, dates of birth, etc. I have to look up in my notes. My dad and his siblings were all born in Brooklyn with the exception of the two who were born in Lercara Friddi.
When did your grandparents arrive and where did they settle?
Also can you let me know any other names linked to your Sferlazza surname, I can see if they match up with the other names I have this weekend before I write back to you again. Would be great if we come up with a match!
I have alot of info. I'd be happy to share with you. Got as far as g-g-grandparents, or g-g-g grandparents, again, not sure from my memory.
