thank you for your response to my inquiry posted on Ancestery.com. My grandfather Naltale was a merchant marine in early 1900's. He came to america to find my grandmother Maria Corrao, also from messina. They married and moved to the lower east side of ny.Eventualy they moved to Brooklyn.Their son Salvatore became a doctor. Died in the 2nd world war. My mother Anna, their youngest daughter married Bruno Petrovato during early 1930's.
my grandfather Natale was short in statue, only
5'3" or so. He didnt have much hair so I don't remember what color it was. What he lacked in size he made up for it in energy. He worked 2 jobs with Arbukle Bros, in brooklyn came home and single handedly repaired a 4 story home he owned.
My mother and father visited Messina during the 1950's. I remember she met a cousin who was a nun and an uncle who was a doctor.
sorry, this is all I can remember. Hope it rings a bell with you. It will be nice to find someone in the family who is still alive.
I live in suffern NY which is on the Bergen county border.
