Hello again...have not been able so far to find any more about John & Ann Helyar, but Amy(Emma) their daughter, who married my great, great grandfather Thomas Ironside, probably posessed the shoemaking skills, as they were "Shoemakers of Chideock". Thomas's forefathers were "churchmen", and had connections with Netherbury.... Ralph Ironside (Archdeacon of Dorset late 1600s) had married Margaret Strode of Netherbury Manor (daughter of John Strode).
I found out just yesterday that a Helyar daughter(unfortunately cant remember christian names) married William Phelips of Montacute House (now National Trust) near Yeovil in the early 1800s.
She was responsible for laying out the Formal Garden at Montecute House.
