I have a copy of the ships manifest for the "Ferguson",and John and Mary Fitzsimmons are on it, as are my Helyar people.A cousin of mine found it at the Mitchell Library in Sydney.
There are no photographs, but the ship was small,554 tons,under the command of Captain John Virtue,departing Plymouth 21/9/1840 arriving Port Phillip 15/1/1841.
The ship foundered on a reef in the Quoin Entrance,Torres Strait,off Cape York,Australia,27/4/1841. She was in company with some naval vessels and there was no loss of life.
