Hi Elaine,

Thanks for your reply. My James Wagg was born Nov. 8, 1842 in Burin, Newfoundland, Canada. I suspect that his father may have been a James Wagg born in Christchurch, Ringwood, Hampshire? I am sorry, I don't know how your county names work so I am struggling to know how close some of the places I see are to one another. I have seen personal home pages about Waggs from Norfolk that moved to Ontario, Canada. Apparently, 3 brothers married 3 Johnson sisters. I have also been to Vivian Egan's wonderful site about Wagg, Wigg, & Wegg families however to date I am unsuccessful in finding out my James' parents. I can find Waggs that went all kinds of other places but not Newfoundland!

Thanks anyway, if you come across anything I would love to know about it. Burin was quite an established fishing port in the 1800s and a lot of trade was done between there and England.
