Hi Renee,
I found the best way to get started was to get my Parents marriage certificate then this gives you their parents names and you just keep getting further generations back. This way you can verify that you are following the correct line.
Now that I've hit this brick wall in 1655 I have started filling in other family members.
Sorry, I haven't come accross any of my family that have gone to USA. Good luck with your search
