I have tried other message boards with no success. I am looking for information on the above two families.
1. Alt. Spellings: Coupthorpe, Courthop, Courthope, Courthopp, Courthoppe, Courthorp
----------
(From the Will: John, Gentleman, d.15.9.1653 m. Anne – presumably parents of below-mentioned John) had a son:
* John of Weighbridge (sic), Surrey. Gentleman b. 1639 m. Anne Wilson b. 1641 of Winsor (sic), Berks at St Clement Dane's Church, Strand. Lic. 6.9.1661. They had a son:
# Thomas of St Dunstan in the West, Fleet Street ob. 1696, whose daughter:
- Catherine, coheir b. 1690 m.9.2.1715-16 (M. Lic. Bishop of London) to Rev. Mordecai CARY b.7/8/1687 London, Bishop of Killala, co. Mayo, IRE d.2/10/1751 Killala, Ireland.
2. The other family is that of Deering/Dering.
The Dublin Gazette of Tuesday 15th Feb, 1742/3 reads:
Rev. Henry Cary, son of the Bishop of Killala was on last Saturday married to Miss Mary DEERING, a young lady of great beauty, merit and a fortune of ₤5000 sterling. They were married on 12 February 1743 at St. Mary, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland. She died before 1756. In all probability she was a member of the English gentry family but my research of the family has produced no link with her and, oddly, no mention is made of her wealthy father's name.
