Hello,
I am commenting without reading the other comments (but which I will). I am from Makhad as well ... well, actually I was born in Karachi, but my grandparents and father were from Makhad and moved to Karachi in the 1950s.
I met Haji sahib when I was 13 in 1981, he was a distant cousin of my grandmother. My cousins and I went with him to our ancestoral town of Makhad where he read us the book he had written. It was facinating. However, recently, some 25 years later, one of my chachas and I tried to get hold of that book again, but without any success, until another chacha of mine told us that he might have a copy lieing somewhere in the office. Surprizingly this was an all together different book on the history of Parachas. But I wonder which one is more authantic?
Btw, I always thought us Parachas from Makhad always wrote Paracha with an 'a' instead of an 'i' or 'e.'
But I'm still all at sea, really. Because as my uncle and I noticed, there was an element of "Islamism" forcfully tied into the history of the Paracha by Haji Saheb. He said we came from Yemen to Iran and then to Pakistan. And that the word Paracha is derived from the Persian word "Firasha" (meaning farsh saaf kerney wallah). He says that Parachas are decendands of a person who used to clean the grounds on which the prophet Mohammad used to prey upon. I find that hard to believe. This most certainly was added into the Paracha myth in the late 70s when much of the Paracha clan in pakistan were turning religious.
